With the artist’s permission, Longo meticulously photographed, documented and researched each work that are not only milestones in American post-war abstract expressionism, but also ones that he had a personal attachment to.
Playing with texture, investigating the performative nature, and translating works into black and white from color photographs with the use of charcoal, reveal an incredible wealth of insight not just about Longo’s work and process but also into the original works that he’s copying.
