Emmanuel Deschodt

Born in 1997, French artist Emmanuel Deschodt studied at Decorative Arts in Paris (ENSAD). He has been drawing since childhood and has worshiped boxing and its aesthetics for as long as he has been drawing. Throughout his studies and his amateur boxing career, he developed a painting technique making his two passions inseparable. He develops a performance during which he paints portraits using his fists. His canvas is stretched over a punching bag around which he dances as he would face an opponent in the ring. He plunges his fists into the paint and their impacts replace the caress of the brush. The result of these performances are portraits or looks painted in black acrylic.
